How to Find Processor and Windows Capabilities
Checking for SSE2 Support
Note: this is for 32-bit processors only; 64-bit processors should all have SSE2.
Download the CPU-Z utility from:
http://download.cnet.com/CPU-Z/3000-2086_4-10050423.html
then install and run it. The CPU-Z window displays the supported instruction sets as shown in the examples below:
CPU-Z output on non-SSE2 processor
CPU-Z output on processor with SSE2 support
Finding Service Pack Level of Windows XP
- Right-click the Start button.
- Choose the Explore command.

- Pull down the Windows Explorer Help menu.
- Choose About Windows.

- The Version and Service Pack number are shown in the About Windows box:

Finding Service Pack Level of post-XP Windows
- Click the Start button.
- Right-click Computer.
- Click Properties.
- The edition of Windows you are running is displayed under Windows edition near the top of the window.
